Hellebores are a gorgeous, yet mysterious flower. Lenten Roses, Buttercups and Ranunculas are all in this family. Imagine giving these heart felt hand made beauties as a gift to anyone. In this class we will cut and shape the petals and construct the stamens using crepe paper. Then we will assemble the flowers using tacky or hot glue, floral tape, floral wire, and embroidery thread. Last, we will add stems an leaves. Students will make up to 4 gorgeous flowers each.
Karen's love for crepe paper flowers began with Eileen Riley, who had taught crepe paper flower making workshops at NBACE since 2022. Karen attended all of Eileen's classes and soon fell in love with making all sorts of flowers and flowering bushes ! She has been at it ever since and is thrilled to share her knowledge and skills with you. Karen Charbonneau Zukas is a graduate of Tufts university and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston with a master’s degree in education from Western New England University. She is a recognized portrait painter and potter and former columnist for the Bulletin in Boston. She has been teaching various subjects, primarily advanced ESL, fine art, writing, test prep, debate and humanities; at universities, preparatory, public, private and international schools and community ed in Boston and now locally for over 35 years. She and her family moved back to the south coast in 2013. She is the proprietor of Peasantware Pottery in New Bedford and the founder of The New Bedford Art and Cultural Emporium at Kilburn !
