Intro to Bird Carving ~Cardinals, Plovers or Chickadees
Learn the basics of Wood Carving by Making either a red cardinal; you could make the female, OR you can make a Piping Plover or even a sweet chickadee. Using ¾” pine, pre-cut into a birdish shaped block and ready to carve and whittle, you will create your own beautiful hand painted bird to display with honor for years to come. These beautiful birds are attractive, elegant and ready for show. First giving a step by step demonstration, Jason will walk you through the steps of carving, whittling, sanding, mounting, priming and painting these beauties; finally preserving them with a finished coating. Included in your materials kit will be everything needed to create this small masterpiece. With borrowed knives and pre-cut metal for legs, you won’t believe that you made it yourself ! This is a great, peaceful project to do on your own, with family, friends, your mum or your dad or with a child over 14 who can handle the tools.
