Relief block printing for cards and images

Relief Printing or Block Prints even often called linoleum block prints, in any case, are a permanent way to make your own "stamp" on life. 

In this workshop, each student will learn the basic skills involved in carving and printing reliefs and will create a small edition of stationery or notecard sets with an emphasis on Valentines Day if you choose.  Students will learn to transfer their images to a medium hard rubber block, basic carving skills, and how to print their relief image. It is encouraged that students bring their own 4X6 image or drawing to transfer, however, example images and subjects will be provided. If you choose to bring your own image, it is recommended to stay away from anything with words or fine lines/small details. It is ideal to use an image containing equal parts positive and negative space, as we will be printing a single color.  You will possess your block, and be able on your own far into the future to use it as you wish for cards, or small hangable art pieces.
