Finally Learning to KNIT ! Scarf workshop
You are going to do it this time !! What says love more than a warm snuggly wearable item? Whether you make the scarf for yourself, your significant other, your kids, your mum or your secret crush, or all of the afore mentioned, they'll be so touched. This class is for beginner knitters. Students will learn techniques such as casting on and off, knitting and pearling, counting stitches, and making pompoms ! Whether you finish it with fringe or pompoms, or leave it plain is up to you. You'll soon love this new cozy past time and will wonder how you ever lived without it. Knitting uses at least two straight needles and loops of yarn to easily create a fabric. The instructor will begin the first session with a short discussion of the materials and techniques. She'll then give you a deliberate demonstration on casting on, you'll perfect that. She'll then demonstrate the knitting technique, you'll perfect that, then she'll show you pearling, and you will perfect that, then be on your way to a 60" scarf ! This is a guided session and you will be given group and individual instruction, encouragement and guidance. We strongly recommend that you try and knit some every day for about an hour, at home, or in the car so you can finish your scarf by the 2nd week's session. In that session, you'll learn to cast off and make fringe or pompoms.
Have your GPS take you to 101 West Rodney French Blvd. in New Bedford. Once there, please park on the end of the building AWAY from the main entrance. You'll see an ORANGE door that says Mattress Handup...enter there and go up the stairs. At the top of the stairs...follow small yellow signs for NBACE. We're right around the corner behind the mural !!
