Course Fee: $145. Just jump in the week that you register. Please see materials list below. We will provide easels and have canvas for sale. For the first few classes, it's ok to buy the very cheap paint at Ocean State if you do not already have paint. We'll do the best we can to get started.
Oil Painting for Beginners ~ Still Life
This class will turn you into an oil painter !! You'll conquer the fears and the mystery of oil paint and learn the absolute joy of "real" painting. Through a series of still lives, you'll begin to conceptualize your surroundings and to really see like an artist, and paint like a boss !! We will focus on technique, approach, color mixing and color contrast, brush work, composition, perspective, negative space, lighting, hue, tone, value, shading, focal point, the golden ratio, learning to see, chiaroscuro, understanding your style and finding your "voice" through practice. You'll learn to stretch and prime canvas and even how to clean up !
We'll touch on famous painters through books and internet resources, and have small critiques at the end of each session.
